How Can I Change My Life

Thought I would start off with a cheesy ass quote like usually. People ask the question:

How can I change my life?

Well if you work hard enough then you can achieve your goals. Change starts with your communication, thoughts and beliefs its all in your head.

Here is the process that changes your beliefs in 4 simple steps:

  1. I should change
  2. I can change
  3. I will change
  4. I am change!!

Aristotle said “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”

So now is the time to get off your lazy ass and take action .

Now is the time to go to the gym and get rid of that beer gut, read that book on business and do the work that needs to be done fuck excuses.

I do drop the f-bomb now and then but I think also change is what the Dalai Lama says in his book, “Beyond Religion” about there being 3 levels of understanding:

  1.  Hearing something
  2. Contemplating it
  3. Making it part of who you are instinctually

This is so true because you make the choice to decide to change and make it part of you.

Basically both of these ideas state that change is a process and a journey

Looking back at your journey of change, enjoying the journey and seeing how much you have changed and grown can be a great motivator. I think that knowing that I am change is one of the most motivating factors for getting rid of other bad habits.

  1. I should change my eating habits and actually exercise
  2. I can change by taking action and stop this choding around find a gym to go to and buy healthy foods
  3. I will change by going gym most days and going on a training program
  4. I am change because the gym is now my back door and fitness and health is priority number one but there is always room for improvement and further personal growth

I think a generation of men are being taught how to be passive and modern society teaches us:

  • Only talk when you are told to
  • In school write this or you will fail
  • Read this and take this test for the answers we say are only the right ones

School is the first place that tells you how to think inside the box

Lets be honest here when you’re young you dream big and think anything is possible but you go throw the system and sooner or later you realise that the system changes you not for the better but for worse.

Just to let you know I am not against school or education but this whole passivity is being taught to us at an early age and everyone is just waiting around for change to happen and think that they need to be spoon fed.

Some guys are waiting for people to help them

“Maybe someone can help me lose this weight”………eh……nooo

Instead you got to get off your arse and put the fucking work in

Another example is the people looking for get rich quick schemes that offers a big button for income its all b.s.

God I Feel like I am starting to sound like Obama saying change all the time haha but you know what I don’t care.

People have to realise that you need to internalise the change, ask yourself can I change this? if the answer is yes move your lazy ass out of the house and go to the gym make it a habit. You can change anything you want if you just make it into a habit such as your humour, attitude, positivity, posture and body to a certain extent.

Important question here: Can you change your (insert word) ? If yes then go and try it until it works. When something doesn’t work find out why and fix it.

Try again ask someone who has had success and is experienced in that area.  Ask yourself how can I fix this? Change starts with your beliefs.

Don’t let people and your own limiting beliefs dictate your future choices. If you want to make change you have to be the change.

Stop being passive stop waiting for change believe in yourself

Some of this stuff I say like take action I know sounds corny an all but its true taking action and believing in yourself is the key to “the good life” but most of us wait for change until old age and have regrets and be bitter old men. You can acquire the beliefs and knowledge for change so use it for motivation but the only thing that will change you is yourself by taking action.

Sure books and motivational material can help you on your path but you have to get off your lazy ass first and dedicate yourself to a worthy cause. Dedication however comes with a price which involves turning off the TV and making a sacrifices of certain pleasures, stupid diversions, intoxication and instant gratification so you can have a more favourable future.

What do you want to change?

My Example:

  • I should have financial freedom
  • I can have financial freedom
  • I will have financial freedom
  • I am financially free

Being financially free means I can help my family and help my parents retire this is my main drive and purpose for this change.

On that note

You got to personally reflect on the reason you want to change and how your change can help others.

 It has to be a worthy cause great enough for you to strive

I will leave you with a quote from Michael Jordan because success doesn’t come overnight. It comes from them long hours grinding it out and building habits over time.
